PART 1: ILLUSTRATED CONCERTINA BOOK
Chinese Ink on Paper
An illustrated concertina book which delves into the daily lives of old people in Singapore, ranging from the quiet happiness they find in their slow lives to the struggles they experience in their golden years, leading up to their final breath.
PART 2: LIFE-SIZED INSTALLATION
Acrylic on Wood
A closed hawker stall that reflects the decline of Singapore’s hawker culture. An important symbol of multicultural unity and everyday life, this heritage is now threatened by rising costs and an ageing generation of hawkers. The ironic name 'Heng Ong Huat Tze Char', which means Prosperity Dishes, contrasts with the shuttered stall and empty tables, highlighting the slow and quiet disappearance of a vibrant tradition.
